Note: The blog below includes information from the Sauermann Group`s Kimo brand. A recognised leader of portable and fixed measurement equipment for over 30 years, Kimo provides a wide range of measuring solutions for pressure, temperature, humidity, air velocity, airflow, gas analysis, air quality, sound level, and other parameters. In 2015, Kimo joined the Sauermann Group. The Group operates two main brands: Sauermann for condensate removal pumps (including accessories and solution kits) and instruments for improving indoor air quality, and Kimo for instruments aimed at measuring and monitoring air parameters.

Most people spend 90 percent of their time indoors. Considering this reality, buildings have a unique ability to influence our health.

At the Sauermann Group, our mission is to provide detection, measurement and control solutions for superior indoor air quality.

Our solutions can be especially useful for green building -- the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle from design to construction, operation, maintenance, renovation and deconstruction.

For example, demonstrating water efficiency is an important component of green-building. One way to reduce water usage is by collecting condensate, which is produced by air-conditioning systems during the cooling process.

With an efficient removal system, such as a Sauermann mini condensate removal pump, the water created during cooling can be reused for a variety of other purposes including to flush toilets, irrigate landscaping, etc. During this process, a pH neutraliser can neutralise acidic condensates and make them suitable for gardening!

Having green-certified buildings and healthy indoor air is increasingly seen as being important to the health and wellbeing of workers and building inhabitants. According to a study released by Harvard`s TH Chan School of Public Health and SUNY Upstate Medical University, workers in green-certified buildings have higher cognitive or `brain` functions.

The Study found `26 percent higher cognitive function test scores for office workers in a simulated green building environment with enhanced ventilation versus a traditional building environment.` This included `73 percent higher crisis response scores and 44 percent higher applied activity level scores, which reflect ability to gear decision-making toward overall goals.` The Study also found workers had 38 percent higher focused activity level scores, which reflect capacity to pay attention to tasks at hand.

The Study illustrates how indoor green building design is an important component of optimising employee productivity and well being.

Sauermann Group products can help buildings get their green-certification points in areas such as water conservation. Through our products such as measuring instruments or condensate removal pumps, we offer a wide range of products and services that ensure buildings have the best indoor air possible.
